The Review of all Reviews!

My final post on this blog aims to summarise the journey I have taken to try out various different bars and pubs throughout Glasgow. And what a journey it has been! As you might imagine, I have thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in this new role as bar reviewer, it has been great fun and really opened up my eyes to what the city has to offer in terms of new, old, and quirky drinking establishments. Let’s take a quick look back at each of the bars I have visited over the last few weeks.

First up was The Absent Ear, a brand-new speakeasy style bar in the Merchant City. We had an incredible time not only enjoying the innovative cocktails that they served here, but also actually undergoing the adventure of finding our way into the bar. The managers have put a lot of effort into creating a really unique experience that makes for an extremely fun night out!

Next, we opted for somewhere a little closer to home – just around the corner in fact! The west end’s bar and restaurant, The 78, delighted us with its simple and homely feel. We especially liked playing a plethora of board games here whilst enjoying our pints, and actually ended up making friends with a couple at the table next to us – who we plan on rematching at chess at some point soon!

After this, we fancied somewhere a bit more classically Glaswegian, and so ventured up to The Park Bar. Immersing ourselves in the incredible local Gaelic culture whilst sipping pints of locally brewed beer was a definite highlight for me!

And the final stop was the brand-new union bar – which, incidentally, Barak Obama actually went in before me! After making so many great memories in the old union in first year, I was worried about not feeling comfortable in its new replacement. But I was proved totally wrong! The new union is a brighter more modern version, but still retains the essential ‘studenty’ vibes that the old one had.

If you have made it this far, I cannot thank you enough for supporting my blog and reading my random ramblings about Glasgow Bars! You can read the full reviews for all of these establishments here on my blog, or you can come and test them out for yourself – which I highly recommend! Please drop a comment if you enjoyed my blog (don’t worry they are anonymous)!

Thank you and Good-bye!
